Science Department Overview
The current state graduation requirement is two years of high school level science. One of those science credits must be a lab science credit.
It is strongly recommended that the college bound student completes 3-4 years of science. The student should complete at least 2 years of lab science. One of the science classes should be an algebra-based science course, like chemistry or physics.
The science department recommended pathway is 9th grade science followed by Biology during their sophomore year.
Students of the class 2013 and beyond must pass the science HSPE to graduate. Starting in the academic year 2011-2012, the science HSPE will be replaced by a biology end of course exam students will need to pass to graduate.
